5. I painted the dark purple almost black face of the pansy with alizarin crimson and Winsor blue. I made it more toward the blue side. The purple is painted right over the yellow. I chose staining colours this time because I wanted a really dark colour. These staining colours do this very well, as they are very intense. A word of caution, staining colours go muddy if over painted with thick layers. They are luminous if overpainted with very thin layers. Therefore I try to decide to go dark with one go, or layer if I want a really jewel like dark colour. |
